The company is a finalist in the postulation of an international award in the category of startup in England. In addition, he has managed to build an investment fund of two million euros in Ireland to internationalize their management.
This week takes place in Puerto Montt, Los Lagos region, AquaSur 2024, the fair aquaculture more important in the southern hemisphere. In its twelfth edition, the event will showcase new technologies, products and innovations of the industry, from the hand of over 480 exhibitors.
Under this context, one of the companies participating in the meeting is ChucaoTech, startup chile, which arose in 2020, and that in this short time it has been consolidated with the latest technology to clean up and remediate the seabed through the use of nano bubbles and with the focus placed on energy efficiency and sustainability.
José Pablo Puga, general manager of the company, explained that from the beginning had the aim to match the technology with the “pain” of the aquaculture industry. “A short walk, we find the technology of nano bubbles, what we put together with the theme of the remediation of seafloor and got to work,” he said.
The remediation focuses on the recovery of the seafloor in anaerobic conditions. This lack of oxygen is generated by the sediments of aquaculture, as can be waste of salmon, faeces and food which are not reached to consume.
This material is deposited in the seabed, providing a great large amount of nutrients that are not quite degraded by the amount of oxygen that is available,” he said Puga.
To resolve this problem, the startup chilean it uses technology that injects oxygen in the form of nanobubbles. In this way, the seafloor recura their aerobic conditions natural.
“These small bubbles do not float, they are attracted electrically to the organic matter, therefore, when injected oxygen in the form of nanoburbuja, this is transferred to the bacteria, which then cause the degradation of the organic matter”, stated the executive.
“This will improve the condition of the fund so that the ecosystem can stay healthy,” he added.
Since they began in 2020, the company has remedied 40 centers. In addition, they were the first company that obtained a specific resolution of the Undersecretary of Fisheries and Aquaculture (Subpesca) to remedy seabed with technology of nano-bubbles, which are then regulated with the resolution in 2022.
“Today, we are part of a group of companies that we can remediate the seafloor and of which, 60% of these companies, apply nano bubbles. We were pioneers in a paradigm shift of technologies that are used for the remediation,” said Puga.
Currently, Chucao Tech is a finalist in the nomination of the international prize Aquaculture Awards, in the category of startup in England, and has managed to raise an investment fund of two million euros in Ireland to internationalize their management.
